Brief Bio:

Leo Pastel is a genre-blurring artist from Cincinnati, OH. Since his 2018 debut, he has performed with Kanye West’s Sunday Service Choir, graced festival stages like The National’s Homecoming Fest and FWB Fest, and co-founded the Detroit-based boyband Hard Car Kids. A trailblazer in onchain music and an early adopter of AI, Leo blends innovation with his heartfelt mission to spread love through art. He brings this vision to life through The 3ther, a grassroots community hosting free creative events across the country.

Your Ethereum / web3 journey:

I’ve been deeply involved in Ethereum-based music and creative projects since 2020, blending my passion for community building with onchain innovation. My journey began with a virtual performance in Decentraland, and since then, I’ve worked on pioneering web3 music projects like SongCamp CHAOS, where our 77-person collective generated over $1M in NFT sales with instant, onchain revenue distribution on Ethereum mainnet. I also co-foundedThe Outsider Collective, shipping the first onchain community mixtape, and I collaborated with Metav3rse to create The Morphotones, an AI-powered virtual band that released the first GrimesAI track on Ethereum. As a solo artist, my two sole releases on the Ethereum music platform Sound.xyz charted at #2 & #1, and I’ve generated 20,000 mints on base over the past 6 months through my music releases with The Yellow Collective. In 2024 I was a UX designer at ETHDenver, where my team, Data Muse, earned bounties from Base, Arbitrum, and XMTP for building a Farcaster-integrated platform that tracks collectors across the Superchain. Beyond my own projects, I’ve consulted for brands like Spotify, Vans, and Create Music Group to help bridge web2 and web3 music ecosystems. Through it all, my focus remains on empowering artists, fostering community, and pushing the boundaries of blockchain-powered creativity.
