Brief Bio:

Cocophony is a Denver-based music project and has brought together his love of music and creativity in a project that spans all genres of music. Having grown up learning piano and how to sing, performing for live theatre and musicals, and inevitably jumping into the world of technical production, Cocophony strives to bring unique, immersive experiences with his creations, whether they are based in audio or visual or a combination of the two. Particularly keen to media that acknowledges the duality of our human experience and the grey area that lies upon the thin line between the two sides of the coin (the edge of the coin, if you will), you may hear everything from lofi-horrorcore to ancient future to hip-hop house to drum and bass in any of his mixes. Cacophony means “a harsh discordant mixture of sounds.” Cocophony strives to find the beauty within the chaos. Many gratitudes for allowing Cocophony to share his journey with you, let us lose ourselves together in a space that is safe, yet uncomfortable, inspiring, yet raw, exhilarating, yet melancholy. There is beauty in the light and in the dark, and love will connect us through both, as long as we are willing to embrace all of it.

Your Ethereum / web3 journey:

I mostly have knowledge of Ethereum and it’s ability to act as a platform for evolving technology, making it one of the more useful crypto platforms in the market today. I’m a believer in separation of the government and our financial systems and peer-to-peer technology has always been an interest of mine, of which I have also been able to experience a great deal of media otherwise inaccessible to me. Overall, I’m a big fan of the cause and would like to contribute my audio-visual skills and services in whatever way is required.

Musical Style & Performance Type:

I perform as a DJ with added vocal layering. I also use Serato Stems just about as much to mix as much as I do equilizer levels. My go-to genres include hip-hop & funk house, tribal inspired bass music, UK garage, and G-House. I adapt my style to the setting & the crowd response, as well as the needs of the event. If I’m in the background, my go-to tends to be upbeat house music. If I’m playing corporate, I lean into top 40 and remixes of familiar music. For EthDenver, I would likely play music with technology-inspired songs with melodic tracks sprinkled throughout. I’m also not married to this in any way. If we are on a Funktion One system, I’ll be pulling music from Tidal in order to play (FLAC files vs. the MP3s in my library for higher quality). If there are any specific needs when it comes for music to play, I am malleable as a DJ. My priority is for people to enjoy the music being played.

Coordinate with 360° mapping:

I can definitely provide a logo (in the process of tracking it down from an ex-girlfriend, she just needs to upload it to my Dropbox, it’s fully developed, I just don’t have the vector/layered files quite yet). Beyond that, I would definitely be interested in logistics of the 360 degree projection: is it a dome, a projector blend surrounding people, and what would those dimensions be? I do a fair amount of graphics and video content development myself, so having an element of visual that I can create to fit my branding as Cocophony sounds like an incredibly appealing project. Thematically, I like to create moments of duality. I could see an animated layer-mask across a beachscape revealing a hellscape “scene” underneath (likely using the same beach content plugged into an AI) could be a really powerful concept. Really, anything that is normal and peaceful offset with something dark, sci-fi, fantastic, eerie sounds like a really cool concept to me. I’m very interested in exploring this aspect of the production, sounds like a playground of possibilities. I’m familiar with Resolume and have a license that can be acquired, if that is something that would be helpful. I may even have someone who would be willing to come in and tech that, depending on his availability.

I have additonal equipment in the department of displays (75″ TVs) a wireless microphone rack (4x HH/lapel lines that run on 2.4Ghz) with an accompanying mixer, music playback, etc, small-scale goal-post style truss (can support the TVs + lighting), wireless/battery uplighting (Rockville mini RF4s), chauvet freedom sticks (4x gen 1, 8x gen 2), lots of video equipment and full livestreaming capabilities (i9-12900K stream rig with Geforce RTX 4070, 64gb ram, 4x inputs for HDMI, 4x inputs for SDI {these are subject to bandwidth limitations}, Wirecast license for a broadcast platform). Basically, if I’m coming to help out, feel free to tap into my resources I have available. I believe in the concept of Ethereum and am very interested in furthering my knowledge of it. Shared knowledge is an asset that allows us all to thrive in a greater capacity and I would love my involvement to yield such rewards for myself and the people around me.
